It operates on the 10th Planet system, a systematic approach to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu developed by Eddie Bravo that focuses on training without the traditional gi. The network has grown to over 100 schools worldwide since 2003, establishing the brand as one of the top competing teams in the sport.
The coaching staff combines dynamic 10th Planet techniques with diverse knowledge of wrestling and MMA to teach a well-rounded style of nogi grappling effective in both competition and self-defense. Manny Vazquez serves as the owner and head coach. He is a 10th Planet Black Belt under Omar Ocasio and a professional MMA fighter who has competed in the UFC, Bellator, and Combate Global. Vazquez holds professional bantamweight championships from Legacy FC and Caged Aggression and regularly competes in high-level Jiu-Jitsu promotions such as Combat Jiu-Jitsu Worlds, Enigma, Highrollerz, and Midwest Finishers. Co-founder and coach Sergio Lopez brings a heavy wrestling background, having achieved 60 varsity wins in high school and serving as a four-year varsity letter recipient at Elmhurst University. He was a member of the 2013 NCAA Division III National Team runner-up and captured the CCIW Conference Team Championship that year.
The school maintains a strong competition focus, with many coaches and students actively competing. Several times a year, the gym hosts Southeast Scramble, a home tournament designed to provide a platform for rising talent in the sport.
