The Language Lounge

The Language Lounge is an after school program in North Charleston, SC. The organization provides language instruction for learners of all ages, offering services including English Language Arts as a supplement to schoolwork, Spanish as a second language, Mandarin Chinese, Hindi, and English as a second language for non-native speakers. Their offerings range from interactive activities like songs, games, and crafts for young children to more academic approaches for students and adults.

Founded by Mara, a language enthusiast with degrees in Chinese and Communication Science from the University of Pittsburgh, the program is built on a passion for global communication. The founder brings professional experience from four years of teaching at the elementary school level with students ranging from PreK to 5th grade. The program aims to make language learning accessible to everyone, whether through tutoring for school subjects or fulfilling personal goals to learn a new language.
