Veritas Classical Schools

Veritas Classical Schools is a school district office in Mt Pleasant, SC. It functions as a homeschool resource center in Charleston, SC, operating under the motto "Communicating the Truth, Training the Mind and Cultivating the Heart." The school partners with homeschooling families to complement their home study programs with a classical Christian model of education. Students attend one day per week during the school year, grouped by age. The curriculum emphasizes classical and traditional subjects taught from a distinctly Christian perspective, aiming to develop students into thinkers who analyze, critique, and apply Biblical wisdom to their lives, families, and communities. The educational philosophy is rooted in the writings of Desiderius Erasmus, focusing on knowing Christ and honoring Him as the end of all knowledge and eloquence.

The school is co-owned by Julie Wilson and Alan Wilson, along with Dee Goodnight and Fay Goodnight. Julie Wilson has been teaching at Veritas since 2012 and instructs kindergarten at both the Mt. Pleasant and West Ashley campus locations. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Georgia Southern University and has previously served as a founding board member for Palmetto Christian Academy and worked for 12 years at Christian World Adoption. The teaching staff includes instructors with an abiding faith in Christ who are knowledgeable in their disciplines and dedicated to assisting parents in achieving excellence in homeschooling. Admissions are accepted throughout the school year on an as-available basis. The application process requires an online application, a written parent testimony of faith, and the submission of registration fees.

Located at 1000 Johnnie Dodds Blvd, the office is situated directly on Johnnie Dodds Boulevard. It is about a third of a mile from the Mount Pleasant Post Office and a short distance from Mathis Ferry Road. The area also includes the Hunters Trace neighborhood and medical facilities such as The Center for Regenerative Medicine and the East Cooper Center for Pelvic Medicine, each within a third of a mile.
