Calvary Christian School

The school was founded in August 1974 as a ministry of Calvary Baptist Church, opening its doors to a handful of kindergarten students. It grew steadily, moving into the fellowship/educational facility behind the church by 1980, then into the purchased Duke Street Elementary School in 1986. By 1995, the school had grown to include infants through eighth grade, and a high school was added in 1996-97. In 2008, the school sold its Duke Street location and completely remodeled its Calvary location, moving into the newly renovated facilities in January 2009. The faculty consists of individuals with many years of experience in their specialized fields, some with more than 25 years of teaching experience, and the entire staff are committed Christians dedicated to nurturing children spiritually. The curriculum uses materials from Bob Jones, Apologia, Abeka, and Easy Grammar, chosen to maximize the educational experience for each child. The school's mission focuses on nurturing each child in a Christian atmosphere, providing an academic Bible-centered education, and cooperating closely with parents in the social development of the student. The admissions process includes a written application, placement tests in core courses such as Grammar and Mathematics for first-time enrollees, an interview with the administration, and a review of the student's conduct and disciplinary record.

Calvary Christian School is located at 101 Calvary St in Greer, about 0.2 miles from the Franklin Mill neighborhood and West Poinsett Street, and roughly 0.3 miles from H. R. Turner Park, the Greer Parks & Recreation Department, and the Needmore neighborhood.
