UNC Burn Clinic

UNC Burn Clinic is a medical clinic in Chapel Hill, NC, operating as the outpatient arm of the North Carolina Jaycee Burn Center at the University of North Carolina Medical Center. The clinic, formally known as the Multispecialty Surgery Clinic, provides follow-up care for children and adults with burn injuries. It is distinct from the inpatient unit and is located on the first floor of Memorial Hospital. The clinic operates Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 4 PM. Patients are advised to bring current medications, special garments, or splints, and to plan for dressing changes during the visit. The clinic provides clean dressings and a one-day supply of supplies to patients.

The North Carolina Jaycee Burn Center is one of the largest burn centers in the US, comprising 36 beds including 21 Burn Intensive Care beds and 15 progressive care ward beds. The center admits an average of 1600 patients annually, with a third of those admissions being pediatric patients in coordination with UNC Children’s Hospital. The center receives referrals from 89 of the 100 counties in North Carolina, as well as from southern Virginia and NC. Its outpatient services are among the busiest in the nation, having seen over 5000 patients in the current fiscal year. The multidisciplinary team includes burn surgeon intensivists, specialized nursing staff, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, occupational and physical therapists, case managers, child life specialists, and recreational therapists. Occupational and physical therapy staff specialize in burn rehabilitation, hand therapy, splinting, self-care retraining, scar massage, and compression therapy to help survivors regain motion and strength.

The clinic is located at 101 Manning Dr # 7600, about a quarter mile from the UNC Medical Center. It is also within a short walk of the Taylor Student Health Center, the UNC School of Medicine, the UNC Adams School of Dentistry, and the Health Science Library.
