El Pueblo

El Pueblo is a nonprofit immigration legal services provider in Biloxi, Mississippi, offering professional, low-cost legal and humanitarian support to underserved immigrant communities across the state. Serving clients from Mississippi, Louisiana, and Alabama, the organization specializes in family-based immigration petitions, citizenship applications, asylum and protection claims, and legal representation for survivors of domestic violence, trafficking, and other violent crimes. With offices in Biloxi, Forest, and Columbus, El Pueblo provides a full range of services including legal consultations, trauma-informed counseling, English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, interpretation and translation, and community health outreach. The organization has been serving Mississippi communities since 2007, with a mission rooted in dignity, justice, and integration for low-income immigrants, particularly those who have experienced violence or persecution.

Founded in 2006 as a faith-based initiative of the United Methodist Church to support Latino migrants rebuilding the Gulf Coast after Hurricane Katrina, El Pueblo became an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2020. Its expansion into Forest in 2019 and Columbus in 2024 reflects its growing commitment to rural and underserved populations, including agricultural workers and Central American youth fleeing gang violence. The Biloxi office, located at 4268 Pass Rd Suite A, operates Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for scheduled appointments, with walk-ins only accepted in emergencies. All full-time staff are multilingual, and the organization has represented clients from thirty-three different countries.

The organization’s work is guided by values of compassion, advocacy, and empowerment, with a strong emphasis on civic engagement, leadership development, and public education about immigrant rights.
