Tulane University

Tulane University is a university in New Orleans, Louisiana. As a premier research institution, the university serves students, faculty, and the global community through groundbreaking research and education. The institution offers over 75 majors and minors, featuring an interdisciplinary core curriculum that spans the humanities, fine arts, social sciences, and sciences.

Founded in 1834 as The Medical College of Louisiana to train doctors in the fight against yellow fever and cholera, the institution was transformed into Tulane University in 1884 through a generous gift from merchant Paul Tulane. Today, the university is a member of the Association of American Universities, an elite group of top-ranked research institutions. The university is also recognized by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching for having the highest research activity. As the largest private employer in New Orleans, the university employs over 5,700 full-time personnel and is currently engaged in a major project to transform the former Charity Hospital building into a national hub for innovation and research.

The university is located on St Charles Ave, situated a short distance from Audubon Park, the Monroe Library, and Holy Name of Jesus School. It is also located near Loyola University New Orleans.
