Lōkahi Dance is a dance studio in Coeur d'Alene, ID, offering fun, educational dance classes for ages 1 and up. The studio provides a variety of programs including school-year classes with performance opportunities in a Winter Showcase and annual Spring Recital, short-term 8-Week Session Classes with a final day showcase, summer sessions, camps, local performances, birthday parties, yoga, and special events. Classes include Hula, Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Modern, and Combo styles, emphasizing a non-competitive, supportive environment where students build confidence, make friends, and express themselves through dance. The studio serves children and families in the Coeur d'Alene community and surrounding areas.
The studio was founded in 2017 by Bria Zan Thompson, who is also the Owner and Artistic Director. She began dancing at age 5 in Haiku, Maui, and later studied Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, and Modern dance, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Dance from the University of Colorado. She is certified in Module 1 Acrobatic Arts, DiscoverDance Early Childhood Development, and Pediatric First Aid CPR. Prior to opening the studio, she taught dance through a traveling company and worked with local schools, the Hutton Settlement Children's Home, and the CDA Recreation Department. Her vision was to create a nurturing space where children could grow through dance, and she continues to lead the studio with a focus on unity, joy, and personal development. GraceAnn Gaherty teaches Creative Ballet, Ballet, and DiscoverDance, while Malia Smith teaches Ballet 2 & 3.
Lōkahi Dance is located on Sherman Ave in downtown Coeur d'Alene. The name Lōkahi means Unity, reflecting the studio’s mission to foster harmony and positive growth in its students through dance.
