Hammond Boxing Club Inc

The club honors Dennis Hardesty, a Clark High School alumnus who championed boxing for over 45 years beginning in the 1970s. As a manager, coach, promoter, referee, judge, cut man, and advisor, Hardesty trained hundreds of amateur and professional fighters who produced dozens of Golden and Silver Gloves championships and more than 200 professional ring victories. Several of his boxers, including Amy Yuratovac, Jack Callahan, and Marty Jakubowski, competed for world titles. Hardesty also advanced boxing as a wholesome activity for disadvantaged youth and as an exercise program for Parkinson's patients. The club organizes events on a roughly every-other-year cycle, with past shows including "Come and Get Some, Part 2" and the 2025 "911 Slugfest" charity event. The next show is scheduled for October 2026.
