Renaissance Electric & Remodeling

The Renaissance Society is a community organization in Sacramento, CA, in partnership with Sacramento State University. The organization offers participatory lifelong learning and community engagement for people of all ages and backgrounds. Members can participate in programs through various formats, including on campus, off campus, and via Zoom, with the ability to watch recordings of many programs at a later time. The society provides opportunities to learn, connect, and share knowledge and experience through a wide variety of subjects, events, and shared interests. Beyond educational programming, the organization supports Sacramento State through volunteer work with students, Food Pantry donations, and scholarships.

The history of the Renaissance Society began with a proposal by Robert Heilman, a professor of social work, who sought to establish a center for learning on the campus. Following development efforts by Dr. Margaret McKoane and others, the society held its first semester in the fall of 1986. The organization is governed by a Board of Directors, which includes elected officers such as a President, Vice President, Secretary, and Controller, alongside members-at-large and committee chairs.

The organization is located on University Avenue, near Bettendorf Middle School and within a short distance of Elmwood Park, the Life Fitness Center, Duck Creek, and Middle Park.
