Pladd Dot Music is a music school in Statesboro, GA, offering private music lessons in all styles including pop, rock, jazz, country, and classical. The business was founded on a creative accident in 1993 when owner Chris Mitchell, while designing a band flyer, accidentally created a black dot that he initially dismissed as a mistake. The dot drew so much attention that it inspired the name "Pladd Dot," later evolving into a signature symbol. Chris, a musician and music graduate of Georgia Southern University, has performed with several regional bands and continues to tour with the Chris Mitchell Band. His background in music, classical guitar, voice, and graphic design has shaped the school’s identity, blending artistic passion with practical support for musicians. The school’s retail space and lesson studios are housed in a historic downtown location, serving the community with a strong emphasis on accessibility and musical exploration.
