Founded in 2008 by Coach Ryan Rushton, a 3rd Degree Krav Maga Black Belt and combat-decorated veteran of Afghanistan and Iraq, the academy initially taught classes out of a partner gym before establishing a solo location in 2013. Over the following eight years, the school expanded its offerings to include various martial arts programs. In 2022, Claymore established its official headquarters in south Huntsville. The curriculum includes Krav Maga Self-Defense for ages 14 and up, which focuses on straightforward techniques used in real-life situations. Bang Muay Thai is offered for those seeking physical fitness or competition success, with a ranking structure inspired by Bas Rutten and developed by Duane Ludwig. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu combines techniques from BJJ, collegiate wrestling, and catch wrestling, created by MMA pioneer Erik Paulson. For younger students, the school offers the first and only certified youth-specific Krav Maga program in the region, teaching self-defense and bully prevention skills to children and teenagers aged 5 and up. A FightingFit program is also available for ages 14 and up, focusing on strength, power, speed, and endurance.

The facility is located on Memorial Pkwy SW in south Huntsville. It sits directly on the highway, with Mathis Mountain and Buchanan Park located about 0.7 miles away. Bell Hill is approximately 0.9 miles from the gym, while the South Gate neighborhood is about 1 mile away. Bell Mountain Park is situated about 1.1 miles from the location. The gym features a large training space, outdoor training areas, and a dedicated space for cardio and strength training equipment.
