Chilkat Center

Chilkat Center is a dance studio in Haines, AK. This multi-purpose facility, owned by the Haines Borough, serves the community and visiting artists through a variety of specialized services including live drama, music performances, workshops, film showings, and fitness classes. The center also provides space for radio and television production, conferences, weddings, and community gatherings.

The facility is housed in a historic building that originated in the late 1800s as part of an early Alaska cannery. After being purchased by the U.S. Army in 1924, the structure was reconstructed at its current location in historic Fort William H. Seward. The center features an auditorium with a seating capacity of 250, a stage equipped with a Steinway grand piano, and professional lighting and sound systems. Notable amenities include a dance studio, dressing rooms, a green room, a commercial kitchen, and several breakout rooms for conferences. The venue is recognized for its remarkable acoustics and a main lobby that offers views of the Lynn Canal and the Alaska Mountain Range.
